SNYDER – Three minor earthquakes were registered within 14 hours of each other in northern Scurry County Monday afternoon. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that all three temblors were reported approximately 12 miles north of Snyder and about 3 miles below the surface. The first quake, which registered 4.0 magnitude on the Richter Scale, was recorded at 4:47 p.m. That was followed at 2:14 a.m. by a 3.8 magnitude quake.
