The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is looking at hiring correctional officers to work here at the Preston E. Smith Prison Unit.Appications will be interviewed from 9 a.m. until noon, Wednesday at the prison unit at 1313 County Road 19.“After they apply, if they want a tour of the unit, I will be helping with that,” said Sylvia Alvarado, the Smith Unit recruitment officer, Hired applicants will attend unit academy training starting Feb. 19 at the local prison.
