Members of the Dawson County Museum Board and others listen as Gaylon White shares some of the stories from his book, “Left on Base in the Big Leagues,” during a book-signing event held last Saturday evening at the Dal Paso Museum. Focusing on “Legends, Near-Greats, and Unknowns in the Minors,” the book includes a chapter on the late Walter Buckel and the Lamesa Lobos during baseball’s heyday in the 1940s and early 1950s, when Lamesa dubbed itself “The Biggest Little Baseball City in the United States.”
