It didn’t come as a surprise to Lamesa school superintendent Jim Knight that Governor Greg Abbott announced on Friday that Texas schools would remain closed for in-classroom instruction the remainder of the current school year. “I wasn’t shocked at all,” Knight said Friday afternoon. “It’s the healthy call,” he said of the decision. Knight said he didn’t see that much would be gained if students were sent back into the classrooms for the final three weeks of school.
