For Lamesa’s school age children, this weekend means the summer season is about over and the new academic year is about to begin. Come Monday, more than 1,000 Lamesa students start the 2021-2022 school year. They won’t finish it until late May 2022. School campuses will open around 7:30 a.m., but the official school day doesn’t begin until 8 a.m. The time schedule for when students get out of class is dependent upon their grade level and their school schedules.
