Although Mike R. Johnson is the only remaining candidate for the Precinct 3 position on the Dawson County Hospital District board, the incumbent board member addressed those attending this past Thursday evening’s Candidates Forum that was hosted by the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce. Johnson spoke about some of the accomplishments of the hospital board over the last few years. Johnson’s opponent, Freddy Vargas Jr., withdrew from the election earlier this past week and the hospital board officially declared Johnson as an unopposed candidate and canceled the May 4 election in a special called meeting held at 12 noon Friday.
