SNYDER – The Snyder and Ira independent school districts (ISD) celebrated Earth Day April 22 with their annual plastic bottle challenges.Students from across the districts were asked to bring in empty water bottles to be recycled.According to Recycle Across America, Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. Recycling one ton of plastic bottles saves the equivalent energy usage of a two-person household for one year.The school districts make the bottle challenge a competition between each grade.District-wide, Snyder ISD collected a total of 92,180 bottles and Ira ISD collected 10,306, bringing the total for both schools to 102,486.– From ...
