Several recruiting events are planned this coming week by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for units in this area, including the Smith Unit of Lamesa. Testing at the Smith Unit will be held next Saturday, April 13, from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon. That facility is located at 1313 Ranch Road 827, which is just south of F.M. Highway 827 east of Lamesa.
