Early Head Start teachers from Andrews, Lamesa, Seminole, and Stanton met in Lamesa last week for American Sign Language training with Lillian Hubler. Hubler is the co-founder of “Time to Sign,” a non-profit company that works with training teachers in American Sign Language (ASL). ASL is the fourth most used language in the United States. ASL is not just for non-hearing children but is used for non-verbal children as they start learning to express themselves. Babies can communicate using sign language 6-8 months before communicating verbally.
