Members of Lamesa Fire Rescue were among those lining a stretch of U.S. Highway 87 in Lamesa Wednesday morning as a caravan of law enforcement vehicles came through town escorting the body of slain Concho County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sgt. Stephen Jones back to a funeral home in San Angelo. The bodies of both Jones and Samuel Leonard, a former Dawson County deputy who also was killed in Eden Monday, were taken to Lubbock Tuesday for autopsy.
