The time when the Lamesa school district accepts all four-year-olds into its pre-kindergarten classes is coming to a close.School Superintendent Jim Knight informed board members Thursday the only students who will be allowed into pre-kindergarten (pre-k) classes next year will be those for which the state reimburses the school.The state only funds the district for pre-k classes if students meet certain criteria. Qualified students can be the children of parents serving in the military or as emergency workers, those who receive free or reduced-price lunches, and those who are homeless or are in foster care.The district is not funded by ...
