A tentative purchase that will fill three aims for the school district was approved by the Lamesa school board during their regular meeting Tuesday evening.
Board members voted 6-0 to purchase the former Automated Controls building at 111 N.E. 14th St. and five acres of adjoining property at a total price of $725,000.
Superintendent Jim Knight said Wednesday, however, that the deal remains tentative until the agreement is signed off on by multiple owners of the two properties.
Knight said he hopes the purchase will be finalized within the next week.
“It’s final from the board’s perspective,” he said.
