After consecutive months of lower sales tax reimbursements from the state, Lamesa is finally beginning to see an upturn in its fortunes.
The Texas State Comptroller’s Office in Austin distributed sales tax allocations last Friday. Those allocations reflect purchases made in December.
Lamesa collected $184,088 in sales tax rebates. The figure is 9.98 percent more than the city’s $167,370 payment from the same month a year ago. So far this year, the city has amassed a total of $317,070 in sales tax reimbursements. That amount is up 5.25 percent when compared to the $301,254 during the first two months of last year.
