Madisyn Ruiz, who graduated last week from Lamesa High School, has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the $2,000 Buckel-Kiwanis Club Scholarship. Madisyn, the daughter of Steve and Calli Ruiz, will be attending Texas Tech University in the fall to study Wildlife Biology. Originally called the Walter and Rubye Buckel Scholarship, the award was established in 1999 by friends and associates of Walter Buckel, longtime publisher of the Lamesa PressReporter.
