Lamesa firefighters were called out shortly after 5 a.m. Friday for a fire on the roof of the new addition at Lamesa High School. Firefighter Brian Beck said a flame was shooting from an open gas pipe near a heating/air conditioning unit. It was quickly extinguished by shutting off a nearby valve.
