Dubbed “West Texas’ Richest Rodeo,” the annual Lamesa Rodeo is ready to get back out of that chute for another ride starting Thursday at the local rodeo arena. “We’ve added $12,500 to our pot this year so we’re basically looking at giving out $35,000 to $40,000 in prize money next weekend,” said Cody King president of the Lamesa Rodeo since 2013. “Giving out as much as we do really seems to help bring in the contestants.” This will be the 70th year for the local rodeo.
