BROWNFIELD – About 340 vehicles and hundreds of people waited in line early Saturday morning, June 27 to receive food from the South Plains Food Bank. Lubbock Catholic Charities AND STAR Case Manager Rebecca Valenzuela helped host a “Pop-up food pantry” in Brownfield at Coleman Park. Valenzuela noted that all they needed was 30 volunteers, but there were more than 50 volunteers that took on the task. South Plains Food Bank provided fresh produce and cheese boxes amongst other foods to all families, with no requirements to qualify for the assistance.
