Some 16 years after starting his law enforcement career by serving as a communications officer with the Lamesa Police Department, Josh Peterson is now heading that department.
Following completion of an agreement between the City of Lamesa and Dawson County, Peterson was appointed Tuesday by Sheriff Matt Hogg to serve as Lamesa’s acting police chief.
He was scheduled to officially begin that role Wednesday morning.
“I plan to go in and just work with the staff that is there and help build up the department – keep it running,” Peterson said Tuesday.
