What originally was planned as an an interim position is turning into a full-time job for Josh Peterson.
Peterson will be Lamesa’s new police chief, City Manager Sean Overeynder said Tuesday.
He will officially take over next Monday, having served as interim police chief for the past month.
His first goal, Peterson told the Press-Reporter, is to “bridge the gap” between the police department and the community.”
“We’ve got to re-establish trust betwen this department and the community,” he said. “We can’t police the community without their trust and support.”
