O’Donnell school board members voted last Thursday to slightly relax the dress code while keeping the student code of conduct regulations the same as last year.
The board agreed to allow students – both male and female – to wear earrings, but for their ears. Pierced jewelry can’t dangle from lips, mouth, nose, eyebrows, cheeks or anywhere else.
“They can have earrings in their ears, but that’s about it,” Superintendent Dr. Cathy Palmer said.
The district’s previous dress code didn’t prohibit earrings, but it didn’t clarify that they shouldn’t show up anywhere except the ears.
