Less than month after the “Southern Cross” highway route opened just south of Lamesa, the new intersection of State Highway 349 and U.S. Highway 87 saw its first major accident Tuesday afternoon. Two people reportedly were injured in the three-vehicle accident which was reported at 1:56 p.m. One person reportedly was being taken by ambulance to meet a medical helicopter in O’Donnell to be transported to a Lubbock medical facility.
