In his final in-person message to local voters attending Wednesday’s meeting with constituents, U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway (Dist. 11) focused on the future after his last year in office ends in late December.
The congressman’s name is not on the Nov. 3 ballot. He has served eight terms with the U.S. House of Representatives and is not seeking a ninth. Conaway’s district covers 29 counties and includes the cities of Midland, Odessa and San Angelo.
“I’ve taken that responsibility very seriously,” Conaway said about his years in office. “I actually hate giving it up, but it’s about time.”
