Scattered damage was reported in and around Lamesa as the result of high winds that hit at two different times during a severe dust storm which blew throughout most of the day on Monday.
It was the worst so far in a series of dust storms that have swept across the area in recent weeks.
A peak wind gust of 73 miles per hour was recorded about 1:35 p.m. Monday at the West Texas Mesonet automated weather station just southeast of Lamesa.
