Cheryl Miller is expected to be named Tuesday to succeed Sylvia Ortiz as Dawson County’s tax assessor-collector.
Possible appointment of Miller to the position is on the agenda for the regular meeting of the Dawson County Commissioners Court. That meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the county courtroom at the courthouse.
Miller currently is a full-time employee in the tax assessor-collector’s office.
Ortiz, who has served as tax assessor for the past eight and a half years, is retiring Wednesday after almost 44 years as an employee in that office.
