When the communitywide Thanksgiving meal had to be canceled due to COVID-19, organizer Alice Ortegon considered getting food vouchers to take the place of homecooked meals.
Families could use the vouchers to do their own grocery shopping for Thanksgiving.
But the idea came too late to do this year. So, instead of doing it for Thanksgiving, Ortegon is taking the voucher route for the Christmas meal.
She has obtained 20 vouchers, each worth $25, that will be bestowed to 20 families next month.
