New council member Dore Evan Rodriguez and Mayor Josh Stevens both will be administered the oath of office in a special called meeting of the Lamesa City Council this coming week.
That meeting will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 601 South 1st Street, in Lamesa.
Returns from the May 4 special election held for the vacant District 4 seat on the council will be canvassed and a resolution considered to declare Rodriguez as the winner of that three-person race.
Rodriguez received 178 votes, according to the unofficial election returns, while Lydia Aguilar had 70 and Rob Parker got 17.
