After almost four decades in the classroom, longtime teacher Dana Mahan is putting down the chalk.
Mahan’s retirement and many years teaching in the Dawson school system in Welch are being recognized with a reception in the school cafeteria from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. this coming Saturday.
Mahan officially retired last May after three decades teaching at Dawson, two years in Lubbock and three years at the former Union school in Terry County.
She is a special education and dyslexia teacher, but she also has handled fourth graders and taught middle school math and social studies over the years.
