A recent surprise inspection of the Dawson County Jail found it to be in full compliance with Texas jail standards.
“We did pass. We are in compliance for another year,” Sheriff Matt Hogg told members of the Dawson County Commissioners Court during their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Hogg said an inspector with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards made an annual unannounced visit to the jail here on May 20.
The inspector arrived shortly after 8 a.m., he said, and basically spent the entire day here.
County Judge Foy O’Brien congratulated Hogg and the staff of the sheriff’s department and jail.
