Lamesa Middle School was the site of a practice run Wednesday for a detection system that one day will be set up at the entrances of district’s school campuses and during extracurricular activities.Company representatives of the “Open Gate Metal Detectors” were at the school to teach central office representatives and school staff from all the campuses about how to calibrate and use a detention system capable of finding any hidden dangerous weapons brought onto school grounds.The detection equipment will one day be at the high school, middle school and North Elementary School.
