With the start of the new school year just over a month away, Lamesa school officials are about to finish hiring teachers.
School board members approved the hiring of eight teachers during a special meeting Tuesday.
“The main purpose of this meeting is to get people hired,” said LISD Superintendent Jim Knight. “With these guys hired, we’ll be one step closer to being ready in the fall.”
School officials began the summer with about 30 openings to fill before school begins Aug. 16. Now they are down to just one; maybe two.
