Dawson County Public Library Director Angie Martinez went before county commissioners Tuesday with requests to close the facility for two days, renew a membership and declare withdrawn materials as surplus items.Commissioners agreed to all three requests.They declared the library’s unneeded materials as surplus, allowing them to be given to the Friends of the Library, an organization which hosts book sales and other events to help fund the library.“This is something we do every so often,” Martinez said.The materials are either damaged or haven’t been checked out for awhile, Martinez said.Many of those surplus items will be part of the Friends ...
