When Trinidad Sanchez was in school over half a century ago, there weren’t any air conditioners. Kids wore their coats in class during the winter. There was no such thing as school buses or even a cafeteria – he had to walk to class, and he hid the burritos he brought for lunch so he wouldn’t be bullied for eating food associated with poverty.
He and his wife, Emilia, were astonished on how progress, technology and some of the $30.4 million in school bonds approved by voters in 2018 have changed the face of education at Lamesa High School.
