It may not happen until next year or maybe even later, but one day Lamesa Independent School District could have its own law enforcement officers.For now, the district relies on School Resource Officers (SRO), licensed peace officers, to provide security on its four campuses and during home games.The district’s four SROs are employed by the school district, but are commissioned by the Lamesa Police Department (LPD).
