Aoudad sheep are not native to the United States and certainly are not normally seen in Lamesa. But while the wild, free-roaming sheep can be found in several southwestern states it may have been a first when one made its way into Lamesa last week. After reportedly being seen in various locations in the city over a period of several days, an aoudad was nabbed and relocated on Saturday. Local dentist Craig Cowan said he was surprised Saturday morning when he got a call at his office about an animal just outside his building on South 1st Street. He thought it was a joke,
