Directors of the Dawson County Hospital District on Friday took formal action to cancel an election scheduled for May 4 for a seat on the board. That action came after one of the two candidates for the position pulled out of the race earlier in the week. Freddy Vargas Jr. cited “medical reasons” when he submitted written notice that he was withdrawing as a candidate for the Precinct 3 position. That left incumbent Mike R.
