Despite becoming a tight end somewhat by accident, Jim Horton quickly emerged as one of the best to ever play that position in the Golden Tornadoes’ football program.
“In junior high, I always played center. I pretty much stayed there through my freshman and sophomore years,” recalls Horton, a 1988 graduate of Lamesa High School. “One day at practice, I started throwing the ball around with a couple of our coaches. They liked the way that I was catching it. Like they say, the rest was history.”
