A multi-million operation for processing hemp is being planned in Lamesa, according to LoneStar Life Sciences Founder and President Matt Atwood.
Speaking to the Lamesa City Council Tuesday evening, Atwood said the processing operation will be established at the Lamesa Delinting facility.
Lamesa Delinting sponsored a meeting here last October and brought in Atwood to help farmers learn about the possibilities of growing hemp.
Atwood said Tuesday he now has commitments from farmers to grow 15,000 acres of hemp in this area.
