As expected, Friday night’s graduation ceremony for Lamesa High School’s Class of 2020 was like none other seen here before. The school board president wore a mask and the superintendent wore rubber gloves. Normally overflowing with family members and friends of the graduates, the bleachers on the west side of Tornado Stadium were less than half full. That all was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which kept students out of the classrooms the last two months of the school year and changed almost every aspect of everyday life in Lamesa, including graduation ceremonies.
