A foursome of Lamesa Golden Tornado Band members will be advancing to state competition after earning high honors in the regional University Interscholastic League (UIL) Solo and Ensemble competition held this past Friday in Abernathy.Advancing after receiving a Superior rating as a saxophone quartet are Jordan Kester, Marco Mejia, Izaak Trejo and William Gibson.Golden Tornado Band Director Sonia Carrion said the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held during Memorial Day weekend in May at various sites in the Austin area.Carrion said 13 LHS band members participated in the regional contest at Abernathy.Also earning Superior ratings for Lamesa ...
