About one out of every 12 people living in Dawson County are benefiting from this month’s food distribution by Lamesa’s Feed One Food Bank.
With many people facing financial difficulties from the COVID-19 outbreak’s impact on the economy, food bank organizers had prepared in advance for a larger-than-usual turnout during the monthly food distribution.
That proved to be the case on Tuesday, as sacks of food were distributed to 420 families representing a total of 1,047 individuals.
Normally the food bank serves about 280 families, according to Risa Coleman, food bank director.
