With flames licking at the front door, a mother and her three children escaped out the back before a blaze swept through their Lamesa home Wednesday afternoon.
The fire pretty well destroyed the interior of the small frame home before firefighters – battling heat exhaustion as well as flames – could bring it under control.
What was left of the structure, however, mostly disappeared when the flames rekindled late that night and soared through the roof before emergency personnel arrived.
Having lost everything, Maria Flores and her three children were being housed by the Red Cross in a local motel through this weekend,
