Two accidental house fires ignited within less than 1.5 hours of each other Tuesday evening. Both were the result of electrical outages.The first fire at 901 N. Ave. L was reported at 8:35 p.m.An overloaded power strip was blamed for a fire that completely gutted a child’s bedroom.“The rest of the house had smoke, heat damage,” said Lamesa Fire Department Captain Jason Wiley.The five residents, three adults and two children, were unharmed.The second residential fire happened at 3319 S. 5th Street around 10:50 p.m.That fire was caused by electrical wiring shorting out in the home attic.“They said they heard a ...
