Juneteenth events spread over 3 daysOrganizers are putting together an array of activities for the annual Juneteenth celebration here this weekend The three day festivities, honoring the June 19, 1865 anniversary of when Texas slaves learned they were finally free, begins Friday at 6 p.m. at the Forrest Park Pavilion with a fish fry, a welcoming, a meet-andgreet, tributes and speakers, Black Excellence Awards for eight recent Lamesa High School graduates, a candlelight vigil, and games for the kids.The celebrations move to Hollis Carver Park starting at 9 a.m. Saturday with the line-up of parade entries.
