A Lamesa fixture that’s been around for half a century is now part of the town’s history.
Long-time local barber Norman Schoonover closed his downtown Dal Paso Barber Shop recently and headed to Florida to enjoy his first days of retirement and his 12-year-old grandson.
“I stayed there for 56 years and eight months,” Schoonover said. “I took care of Lamesa for a long time.”
A handmade sign thanking the community and announcing his retirement is posted on the shop’s front door.
