Measurements of the depth to groundwater across Dawson County are showing the impact of a dry year which saw rainfall here total only about 10 inches.
Jacob Hernandez, general manager of the Mesa Underground Water Conservation District, informed board members during their regular meeting this past Wednesday that he has completed the annual measurement of groundwater levels across the county.
Preliminary measurements from 107 nonpumping monitoring wells, indicate an average decline of 2.5 feet in the water levels in those wells.
