Grady school principal Gary Jones beat out two other contenders for the Dawson Independent School District (DISD) superintendent job left vacant by Layne Sheets last month.
Dawson school board members last week named Jones the lone finalist for the position. The board can’t officially hire Jones for the position until after a 21 day waiting period, according to state law.
“I’ve had aspirations of being a superintendent,” Jones said. “I don’t want to just to do it anywhere. It’s just more about doing it with the right community and the right people.”
