The 2020 Census, the oncea-decade count of everyone who lives in the United States, is underway but has gotten off to somewhat of a slow start in Dawson County. As of May 27, the selfresponse rate in Dawson County was 47.4 percent, compared to a statewide average of 54.9 percent. To be sure everyone is counted, the U.S. Census Bureau will take extraordinary but safe measures to reach homes that can be difficult to access in rural and remote areas.
