A collision near Ackerly earlier this month has claimed the life of a longtime Dawson County resident. Quinton Airhart, 79, died this past weekend in a Lubbock hospital from injuries suffered in the crash which happened about 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 12. Two other Lamesa residents, 75-year-old Gayland Airhart and 74-year-old Donna Airhart, were injured in the accident. The crash occurred on U.S. Hwy. 87 in Howard County, about 18 miles south of Lamesa, according to information released Wednesday morning by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
