Forty-two Dawson County residents have now died from the COVID-19 virus.
That’s according to the latest information available Wednesday morning on the Texas Department of State Health Services website.
That number represents three more deaths than the state was reporting just this past Friday. At this time last week the state was reporting 37 fatalities here from COVID-19.
As usual, those numbers are far higher than the death figures being reported by the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD), which encompasses five mostly-rural counties in this area.
