The death toll keeps rising but it appears the daily rate of new COVID cases in Dawson county appears to be slowing somewhat heading into the Christmas holidays. Two more Dawson County residents have died from the virus, according to information posted Friday on the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) website. The virus has now claimed the lives of 44 people from Lamesa and the immediate surrounding area, the DSHS website shows.
